About the artist

David Nathanael Grinnell hails from San Antonio, TX, which sits in the heart of Bexar county. His “art moniker,” Grizlybexar, is a play on the pronunciation of Bexar (“bear”) with a nod to his childhood love of bears. 

David's intense use of color reflects his love of the pop and abstract art movements from the late 20th century. The viewer may enjoy bright pops and boldness of both color and shape, but his works also suggest a layering in their elements that invite the viewer to examine his works more deeply. 

David considers himself primarily a painter, but he also works in paper collage. More recently, he has begun exploring the opportunities of electronic art and graphic design.
